Duc H. Duong,M.D.-
Neurosurgery
Dr. Duc Duong graduated from the
University
of
California
,
Los Angeles
in 1983 and from the
University
of
California
at
Davis
, receiving his M.D. in 1987.
He completed his internship in general surgery in
1988 at the
Oregon
Health
Sciences
Medical
Center
and his residency in Neurosurgery, with a fellowship in
Neuro-oncology and Epilepsy, in 1992 at the
University
of
Washington
. He gained
further training in the areas of pediatric neurosurgery,
gamma knife radiosurgery, and
neurovascular surgery at the University of
Pittsburgh, the Children’s National Hospital Medical
Center, the Royal Victoria Infirmatory and Newcastle General
Hospital, and George Washington University Medical Center.
During his education, Dr. Duong has received a number
of prestigious honors,
America
’s Top Surgeons, Consumer’s Research Council 2002-2003,
Strathmore’s Who’s Who 2002-2003, International College
of Surgeons Resident Research Award 1996, American Cancer
Society Clinical Neuro-Oncology Fellow award in 1992. Dr.
Duong is board certified in Neurosurgery and entered
practice in 1997. Besides
a very busy practice, Dr. Duong has been involved with 13
research projects, acts as an Associate Professor of
Neurological Surgery at UCLA, professor and Chairman of the
Department of Neurosciences at Charles Drew University of
Medicine and Sciences, Co-Director of the Kenneth Hahn
Stroke and Epilepsy Center, Director of Pediatric
Neurosurgery at UCLA, and Director of Neuroscience in the
Physician Assistant Program.
He has been on the teaching faculty with AANS, CNS,
and at King/Drew Medical Center and a guest lecturer on a
multitude of neuroscience issues, with an emphasis on skull
based lesions, epilepsy,
neuro-vascular lesions, and severe traumatic brain
injury.
